Greenhouse Expertise
Is there any difference besides color, between a green greenhouse cover and a transparent greenhouse cover?
The green cover is slightly stronger than the transparent cover; however both covers are strong and well designed to do the job they were designed for. Both covers allow the sun’s warmth to reach the plants, while blocking harmful rays.
Clear PVC covers allow the full sunlight through, creating the most natural conditions for ideal growth – with the full heat and light from the sun. Experts say that a clear cover is best for the growth of the plants. They also allow you to enjoy the sight of your plants from afar. However, they do not last as long as green covers – usually only about two summers.
Green PE covers are more environmentally safe than PVC covers, as PVC is thought to contain toxic materials which can leak into the plants. The green cover blocks some light from entering the greenhouse, however the effect on plants has been proven to be negligable. The green PE cover is also stronger and more durable than the clear cover, lasting a few more seasons.
MoreI live in a very sunny location. Will too much strong sun spoil my plants?
Too much sunshine could spoil your plants, so if you live in an extremely sunny area you should only allow your plants approximately 3 hours under strong sun. The rest of the time you should ensure they are under partial shade.
The weather gets really cold where I live. Do I ever need to put a heater into the greenhouse?
We recommend that the greenhouses should not be used at all in extremely cold temperatures, especially when there is sleet, a blizzard, or a cold storm. For optimal growing conditions, adjust the temperatures in your greenhouse according to the type of plants you are growing, keeping the temperature optimal for growing.
Adjust the air temperature in your greenhouse according how much sunlight it is getting. In general, it is best to keep summer crops at temperatures of about 75-85° during the day and 60-75° at night. On cloudy days, the temperature should be slightly lower, since the plant is not actively photosynthesising. In the winter you can allow temperatures to go as low as 45° at night and not much above 65-70° during the day without damaging most leafy green crops. Spring seedlings fluctuate in the temperatures they need. Cool-weather crops, like cabbage and radishes, grow best at above 50° during the night and 60-65° during the day, while warm-weather plants like peppers and tomatoes need nights at 55° and days of 65-80°.
Decorative plants usually need night temperatures above 55°, and tender tropical plants may need night temperatures of 60° or even higher.
MoreWill my greenhouse keep bugs away from my plants?
No, our greenhouses are not designed to be bug-proof. We do have screens over some greenhouses’ windows to prevent airborne bugs from entering when the windows are left open.
When am I supposed to open the greenhouse window, and for how long?
In good weather you should ideally leave the windows open for most of the day. Fresh air aids growth and is important for your plants. Leaving the door open too increases the ventilation and enhances conditions for your plants. Bigger plants need more air and do best with a greenhouse that has a roof vent as well.
How long is the extra flap on the greenhouse cover?
You can find most details of a product on the product page. You may find more details in the manual. If there is a specific detail you still are not clear about, please call our customer service team on 845.810.0084, we are always ready and eager to help clarify things for you.

Product Assembly
Do I need to build a base under the greenhouse I want to build?
Most aluminium and polycarbonate greenhouses should be built on a base. If we sell a greenhouse with a base, we believe it is a necessary part of the structure. The base makes installation easier, improves stability and raises the height of the green house. Soft Cover Greenhouses are not built on a base they are usually anchored to the ground using the accompanying anchors.
How do I install the anchor kits?
1) Drive an anchor into the ground at each corner of the greenhouse.
2) Attach a guy rope to the loop at the top of each corner of the greenhouse with a firm knot.
3) Pull the rope taut and tie the other end tightly to the stake in the ground; repeat for each corner.I bought the lean-to greenhouse, model OGAL-46, and I want to install it in a corner. However I see that I will not be able to access the door if I build it as instructed. Can I put the door on the other end of the greenhouse instead?
A greenhouse is an intricate structure where each detail in assembly matters. You cannot assemble the greenhouse in any way differently to the instructions, it will not work. We are sorry that you are having difficulty with this.
Can I combine 2 aluminium greenhouses to create one extra long one?
In assembling a greenhouse, each detail matters. The greenhouse is calculated perfectly to stand firmly and fully supported. Joining 2 aluminium greenhouses together is not possible as there will not be enough support to hold such a large and non-proportionate structure.
I work with tall plants; do I need to use the shelves that come with my greenhouse to ensure that the structure stands properly?
The shelves are optional and can be used at your discretion. Always check that the greenhouse frame is properly put together and structurally sound.
